Mainly Manitoba is a collection of paintings dedicated to our province, Manitoba, in this its 150th birthday. The majority of the scenes are from the beautiful northern section of the province. A few of the paintings may be based outside of the borders but they were from activities or photos taken by former or current Manitobans. Mainly Manitoba is comprised of various works done in oils, water colours, acrylics, or encaustics.
We have a diverse province and this collection tries to capture the wide-ranging landscapes that surround us…the trees, the rocks, the waterways, and the sky with all its possible changes. There is beauty to be found in almost every corner… the edge of the ditch, the intriguing waterfalls and rapids, the wild rice lakes, the wild flowers, and the wildlife whose paths we sometimes cross.
Manitoba may not be the biggest or the richest province but there is no need to feel that we are lesser in importance or character. The people are strong and bear with the cold winters and the summer heat. As this collection of paintings is views, may you take pride in the worth of this province and all its attributes.
