Cowley

Abraham Cowley was one of the five Anglican clergy concentrated around the Red River area in 1849, the others being James Hunter, William Cockran, Robert James, and John Smithurst. Cowley was based in Fairford, approximately 4 hours south of The Pas.

This street was named after the Cowley family although it is unclear who exactly it is named after. The earliest known member is Albert Cowley who was born in 1918 in The Pas, Manitoba. He supported his family through hunting, trapping, and working at the lumber mill. He enlisted in the army during WWII but was honourably discharged just before being deployed overseas. He fathered many children who have each become accomplished in their respective fields.

Sam Waller Museum staff are not entirely sure who this street is named after, further research is needed.
