Married on 21 April 1806 to Jean-Baptiste Lagimodière, Marie-Ann Gaboury was the grandmother of Louis Riel. She was born in Maskinongé, Quebec, a village near the modern city of Trois-Rivières. The Lagimodiere family members are direct descendants of Louis Riel.
