Verendrye

Pierre Gaultier de la Verendrye was an explorer from the mid-1700’s who attempted to find the Northwest Passage. His two sons established a Fort and a Trading Post at the confluence of the Saskatchewan, Carrot, and Pasquia Rivers, the present-day site of The Pas. It was named Fort Paskoyac and became a hub for explorers and trappers alike who were travelling north.
